Auburn should be very proud of their season this year. They are 13-0. It's got to be frustrating to come through the SEC undefeated and not get a chance at a national title, but that's how it goes. This won't be like last year where there were two 1 loss teams going in and some debate between 2 and 3. They seem to think they are going to get a bunch of 1st place votes after that Sugar Bowl and maybe pass the winner of The Orange Bowl and split the National Championship. It's not going to happen. There's no way Auburn should jump over the winner OU and USC even in the AP poll after beating the #9 team by 3. They might be the AP #2 team after OU or USC one takes a loss. When you consider that Virginia Tech had the ball inside the 5 twice and got no points out of either possession, Auburn should be happy they got out of there unbeaten and be happy with #3. They easily could have lost that game. I can even see the AP voting them #2 over whoever loses tonight, but there's no way they are #1. The coaches have to vote for the winner of The Orange Bowl as the champion so they can forget that one too. Auburn can complain about not getting a chance all they want, and they have a legitimate complaint, but they don't have a legitimate claim to the National Championship. If they don't like the system, work to change it to a playoff, but they might want to check and see how much money they got from the Sugar Bowl before they go too far down that road.
