Tour Update

The Tour De France is going about as expected so far. Lance is in 4th place overall and 16 seconds off the lead. The only people ahead of him are sprinters with no real chance to win the race overall. The 2 people I figure have the best chance to challenge him, Jan Ullrich and Tyler Hamilton, are both about 15 seconds behind him. Iban Mayo, who a lot of people thought would be a threat this year because hs is generally considered the best pure climber in the world, is now all but out of contention after losing 4 minutes because of a crash during today's stage.

The first real test of the Tour is tomorrow when the Team Time Trial will give Lance a chance to put some more time into Jan and Tyler. Both of those riders have strong teams, though, so anything can happen. Mayo is likely to lose another 2:30 tomorrow.

If all goes well, I expect to see Lance in Yellow after tomorrow's stage. Go USPS.

One word: MT-Blacklist. It should get rid of the comment spam.

I was literally out of the loop last week and only got my news from word of mouth, which was a bummer because I really wanted to catch the TTT. I've thought about it more and more and I'm beginning to think Stage 13 might be THE stage. I think the final climb is beyond the beyond catorization catagory and is denoted by a skull and crossbones.
